Back in 2017, I was working on a cutout font that I originally wanted to call Scissor Madness. In the end, I named it Cut Along and it was quite a popular font for a while. This week I decided to clean up my fonts folder a bit (as I usually have tons of unfinished fonts lurking in there) and I found a file named Scissor Madness. It was the original try-out for Cut Along. It contained a couple of nice glyphs that I never used, so I started playing around with them and after a day, I had a whole new font! So, in short, Scissor Madness was partly cut out by hand, partly computer made, but it is 100% fun to use! Scissor Madness comes with a bunch of very cute discretionary ligatures.

Simple Ornaments is a collection of ornaments composed of squares, circles, and rectangles. A type designed in a grid, like on display panels Type is not only printed. There were always and still are a number of forms of type versions which function completely differently. Even very early in the history of script there were attempts to combine a few single elements into the diverse forms of individual characters and also efforts to construct the forms of letters within a geometric grid system. The “instructions” of Albrecht Dürer are probably most well-known. But although designers of past centuries assumed the ideal to basically be an artist’s handwritten script, the idea which developed in the course of mechanization was to “build” characters in a building block system only by stringing together one basic element — the so-called grid type was discovered, represented most commonly today by »pixel types.« But even before computers, there were display systems which presented types with the help of a mechanical grid display, like the display panels in public transportation (bus, train) or at airports and train stations. In a streetcar, I met up with a modern variation of this display which reveals the name of each tram stop as it is approached. This system was based on a customary coarse square grid, but the individual squares were also divided again diagonally in four triangles. In this way it is possible to display slants and to simulate round forms more accurately as with only squares. The displayed characters still aren’t comparable to a decent typeface — on the contrary, the lower case letters are surprisingly ugly — but they form a much more legible type than that of ordinary [quadrate] grid types. DeDisplay from ingoFonts is this kind of type, constructed from tiny triangles which are in turn grouped in small squares. The stem widths are formed by two squares; the height of upper case characters is 10, the x-height 7 squares. DeDisplay is available in three versions: DeDisplay 1 is the complex original with spaces between the triangles, DeDisplay 2 forgoes dividing the triangles and thus appears somewhat darker or “bold,” and DeDisplay 3 is to some extent the “black” and doesn’t even include spaces between the individual squares.

ITC Cyberkugel is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson, who occasionally likes to write with an extra-fine ballpoint pen. I like the spindly scrawny forms that it gives me when I follow all the usual 'italic' writing conventions", he says. And there lie the origins of ITC Cyberkugel, although the creative process was moved from pen and paper to software and a Wacom tablet. The Tang family came to be, when I started studying fonts made for use in very small point sizes, like Bell Gothic. I studied the use of ink traps and went to town with them. Instead of just using them for their purpose: trapping ink to prevent the type getting blotted; I used them as a design feature. With those features Tang works very well in both headline and text use. I use it as a house type, and I've already seen it in a beer and cider labels.

Right now it is melon time: the supermarkets are full of them: Galia, Honey Dew, Piel de Sapo… Back in Casa Hanoded we're quite happy with the abundance of melons! So, when I created this cute little font, naming it was easy. Honey Dew is a shaky all caps font with different upper and lower case glyphs. I created alternate letters for both upper and lower case closed glyphs (like a, b, d, o, etc.) - including their accented brethren (aacute, abreve, acircumflex), etc. There is an alternate & and @, plus the Æ, Œ, Ø, æ, œ, ø, þ and Þ. You should have guessed by now that Honey Dew comes with a whole stack of diacritics.

In designing an advertising poster to show off the unconventional Safefont typeface, Steve drew what appeared as relatively traditional letterforms for the expository text. When these characters were as well received as the typeface which was the subject of the poster, Steve decided to expand them into a full-fledged graffiti style typeface of their own. While exploring where this new design might lead, Steve worked to elaborate the poster segment which had inspired it. He soon found himself staring at a drawing of a weapons-wielding Bonnie and Clyde. The desperate duo resonated with the graphic elements of the drawn letters; thus leading to the effortless fleshing out of the design, and to its name, Big Clyde.

Vasili Vasilyevich Radlof or Wilhelm Radloff (Russian: Василий Васильевич Радлов; German: Wilhelm Radloff; 17 January 1837 - 12 May 1918) was a German-born Russian orientalist and founder of Turcology. Radloff is a Russian Turkologist of German origin, who researches the Turkish world from different aspects, opens a new era in the history of Turkology by bringing them to light, and has devoted 60 years of his 81-year long life to these studies. In his work known as Radloff Atlas, it was published with a runic font that he developed specifically for the Old Turkish Runic Alphabet. I made the Turkish Runic Font using Radloff's Atlas. I developed this viking font based on this font and adapted it to Viking writing. I will adapt other runic versions when I have the opportunity.
